This is 174 Academy Street in Wilkes-Barre. It was, at the time, the home of Robert and Marilyn Hoffman. Robert was a prominent realtor in Wilkes-Barre. Marilyn was an art teacher at Coughlin High School and chair of the Art Department in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District. She taught private art classes to children and adults in the basement studio of the home. For many years I was one of those students. She was a widely-known and an award-winning watercolor painter. The house still stands, although the front porch has been altered.
